Diello Stern, a shady mobster from her past, contracts her to find and eliminate the people responsible for a series of brutal murders within his syndicate.
NO REST FOR THE WICKED is, indeed, wicked, racing along like a hybrid of KILL BILL and LA FEMME NIKITA. From its dark humor and thigh quivering action to its twisting story line and poignant romance, this script truly does have it all.
The story begins with Valentina "Wik-Kid" Carlisle and Diello Stern in a daring car chase to the airport and Stern’s private jet. As an undercover agent for the FBI, Carlisle must keep her cool and her cover as she narrowly escapes her colleagues and boards Stern’s jet, bound for Brussels, Belgium. She leaves behind her beloved girlfriend and Diello Stern’s former wife, Dana. But when Dana turns up dead, Valentina blames the FBI for not protecting her as properly as they should have.
Disillusioned with her life in the FBI, Valentina returns to the States as a cold blooded assassin, taking out Federal agents whenever she can. Soon, she is contracted by Diello Stern to investigate and destroy the people who are taking out members of his syndicate. He’s scared. Whoever is killing his men knows which ones to take out so that the pyramid will fall. The list of suspects includes the late District Attorneys wife, Annie, who blames Stern for her husbands murder, as well as any of the Federal Agents in the Bureau for the staggering number of agents Stern has reportedly murdered.
Armed with a 45 and a million in cash, Valentina goes on the hunt, hooking up with Zoe, a pierced and tattooed, bad ass hacker who Valentina claims as her only real friend. As Valentina and Zoe investigate the murders of Stern’s men, she is pursued by a mysterious trio of men whose purpose is not quite clear. But as Valentina and Zoe get closer to the truth, the action and blood comes on thicker and thicker, and more of Stern’s men die. She seeks refuge with Zoe, but discovers that, she too, has apparently been killed.
Finally, a breakthrough in the case comes from the last survivor of the mysterious trio of men, Tongs, who confesses that he’s a Federal Agent sent to assassinate Valentina because of all the Federal blood she’s spilled. He also warns her that, if she gets too close to Stern, she’ll be that much closer to dying. But Valentina doesn’t care. She’s on a mission and it’s about time she closed it up.
Valentina goes to Stern and explains what has been happening. As she aims her 45 in his face, she confesses what he’s feared: it’s been VALENTINA who’s been killing his men with the political backing of the late D.A.’s wife and a private investor interested in Stern’s demise. She discovered early on that it was Stern who had murdered Dana, but it was the FBI who failed to protect her as they should have. Therefore, they all deserved to die and it ends here with Stern’s death. But before she can close the deal, she’s attacked by Federal Agents in a barrage of gunfire. Seems that the FBI has kidnapped Stern’s blind eleven year old daughter, Valeria. To get her back, he had to set up Valentina.
But Valentina escapes, wounded, and Stern goes into hiding. Being a former Fed, Valentina easily finds him and returns Valeria to him. Still, there’s work to be done and Valeria reveals herself to be Valentina’s private investor, a title she grabbed when she discovered that Stern had killed her mother and Valentina’s lover, Dana. Valeria kills her father, then turns the gun on Valentina. Another secret is revealed when Valeria confesses that she was working with a rogue band of FBI mercenaries, first to kill her father, then to waste Valentina. All was supposed to go smoothly, with The Feds finally satisfied that both Stern and Valentina were dead.
But they never counted on all the covert alliances that has brought them to this precarious point. Again, Valentina escapes, this time on a motorcycle, and she is chased through the city streets in a thrilling chase scene that is reminiscent of the great Hong Kong action films. The chase ends in a crowded subway station, where Valentina stealthily stalks and destroys her Federal bastard prey.
Escaping one last time, Valentina goes into hiding. But she is tracked down by the newest addition to the rogue band of FBI mercenaries: Zoe, and she’s been sent to take out the last remaining loose end that could expose them. Valentina kills Zoe, then returns to the FBI field office, revealing the entire plot to be a sting operation to finally kill Diello Stern without him knowing where it was truly coming from AND exposing the rind of FBI mercenaries. Her reward? Being reunited with Dana, who was put into hiding after the attempt on her life. Now that her threats are gone, they can once again be together after three long years apart, and Valentina "Wik-Kid" Carlisle can finally sleep and dream in peace.
